SUVIA / PRODUCT PRIVACY
Suvia Product Privacy Policy
Suvia is a desktop language layer built around one short line near the pointer. This policy explains when the app reads the screen, what stays on device, when it connects to an AI provider you choose, and what account and activation services process.
Scope and processing principles
This policy applies to the Suvia macOS app and its account, trial, activation, update, and model-resource services. Website visits and beta applications are covered by the Website Privacy Notice.
Suvia automatically recognizes one short line near the pointer, not a paragraph or whole document. It does not create translation history, and the account server does not store screenshots, OCR content, source text, translations, or user-supplied AI API keys.
Device permissions, AI refinement, and optional context rely on your authorization and explicit action. Account, trial, and activation data is used to take steps at your request or perform the service; necessary security logs meet cybersecurity duties and protect the service. Other no-consent grounds apply only where law permits.
Screen Recording and Accessibility
When follow translation is enabled and recognition is triggered, Suvia uses macOS Screen Recording permission to capture the area near the pointer for that OCR task. Accessibility permission helps locate nearby interface content and carry out interactions you explicitly invoke. These permissions do not cause Suvia to upload your full screen or continuously record activity.
The task screenshot is passed in memory to Apple's Vision OCR and then released. It is not written to disk, cached, or added to history. You can revoke permissions in macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security; the related follow features will then stop working.
- Screen Recording
- Capture the nearby region for a single OCR task
- Accessibility
- Locate nearby interface content and support user-invoked interaction
- Network
- Accounts, activation, updates, model downloads, and user-selected online translation
On-device processing and local data
System OCR, instant translation, local dictionaries, system translation, and installed offline models process the current phrase on device. Your glossary, language directions, model configuration, and interface preferences remain locally stored. Offline availability varies by language pack and model.
AI API keys you enter are stored in macOS Keychain, not ordinary configuration files, and are not sent to Suvia's account server. Uninstalling may not automatically remove Keychain items or local preferences; delete them in product settings or Keychain Access.
AI refinement and third-party providers
Only when you explicitly choose AI refinement does Suvia call the provider you configured with your API key. By default, the request contains the current short phrase and language parameters needed for translation. It goes directly to your chosen provider, not through Suvia's account backend, and is then subject to that provider's privacy, retention, and transfer practices.
If a version offers context-assisted refinement, a separate authorization screen appears before transmission. Only after you confirm may it add up to about 700 characters of nearby text and up to 20 matching local glossary entries. You may send the current phrase only or cancel. Suvia does not send screenshots, a full page, desktop files, or translation history to an AI provider.
Accounts, trials, and activation
Local features that do not require server identity can be used without an account. If you use account, trial, or Pro activation services, we process only what is needed for security and entitlement; a phone number or email address is not required.
- Account
- Username, internal user ID, and secure password and recovery-credential digests; never plaintext passwords
- Device and entitlement
- Random installation digest, trial or Pro status, device activations, and app version
- Security
- Login times, failed attempts, and necessary IP and security logs for authentication, rate limiting, and abuse prevention
- Daily activity
- A daily deduplicated non-identifying activity record without user ID; raw deduplication data is deleted the next day
Product network connections
Suvia may connect to its services for account login, trial and activation checks, version updates, and model manifests or downloads; AI refinement and other user-selected online routes connect to the corresponding provider. Each connection carries only the data needed for that function.
We do not bundle-upload your local glossary, desktop files, screenshots, or complete reading content to train Suvia models, and we do not use phrases to build advertising profiles.
Retention, deletion, and exit
Screenshots, OCR content, source text, and translations exist only for the memory lifetime needed by the current task and do not enter Suvia history. Account and entitlement data is retained for the shortest period needed to operate the account, perform a contract, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations; after closure it is deleted or anonymized except where security, transaction, or audit records must be retained by law.
You control local glossaries, settings, models, and Keychain credentials on your device. Product settings let you delete local data, sign out, or request account closure; you may also contact us to access, copy, correct, delete, withdraw consent, or request an explanation.
Security, your rights, and children
We use transport encryption, Keychain storage, separation of encryption and digest secrets, access controls, least privilege, rate limiting, and auditing. If an incident may affect your rights, we will remediate and notify as required.
You may request information, access, copying, correction, supplementation, deletion, consent withdrawal, account closure, or an explanation. The product is not directed to children under 14; information found to have been processed without guardian consent will be deleted promptly.
Policy updates and contact
If permissions, data categories, AI request scope, or provider arrangements materially change, we will update the date and notify you prominently in the product or on the website. Where renewed consent is required, it will be obtained before the new processing begins.
